Age and the law
The Law
Body piercing is not regulated. There is no age restriction. This is why most (not all) Body Piercers will put their own age regulations in place. Most, including myself at NPNG Body Piercing Studio, work along side the ‘Child Protection Act’ and the ‘Young Persons Act’.
So, what are the rules at NPNG?
Children’s Ear Piercing
The child must be 10 years of age or above. Sorry, I will not pierce a child who is under the age of 10.
All Body Piercing. (Excluding Nipple and Genital piercing).
The person wanting a body piercing (performed with a cannula needle) must be 13 years old or above.
Nipple and Genital Piercing.
The person to be pierced must be 18 years of age or above.
Parental Consent.
If the person to be pierced (excluding Nipple and Genital Piercing. The person must be 18 or above) is under the age of 16, a parent or legal guardian must be present at the time of procedure. If the person to be pierced is 16 or above then no parental consent is needed. Please bring your identification with you if you are 16 as I will ask to see it.
Accepted Identification
Acceptable identification must clearly show your name, date of birth and recent photograph. For example, a passport . In addition to this, I have come to realise that some of you may not own a passport. Because of this I have decided to accept any ‘document’ you have that has the requirements needed. For example, a school pass. As long as the document has a recent photo alongside your name and date of birth.
